Jennifer Cabral Named to 2015 MASCAC Women's Volleyball All-Conference Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. — Worcester State University's senior outside hitter, Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, Mass.), has been named to the 2015 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Volleyball First Team.

 

Cabral has played in all 27 games for the Lancers this past season. She is first on her team in kills and digs with 250 and 349, respectively. She has tallied up 283.5 points this season, averaging 2.9 per set. This season she reached her 1,000th career dig mark, and currently sits second all-time for the Lancers in the career dig category. She stands at third in the MASCAC with 250 kills, and fourth in digs with 349 thus far this season.

 

Alycia Rackliffe of Framingham State has been named the 2015 MASCAC Volleyball Player of the Year and headlines the All-Conference team which is voted on by coaches from around the conference.

 

The junior from Feeding Hills, Mass. had a strong year for the Rams with a conference-leading 410 kills and 4.06 kills per set. She closed out the regular season second in the conference with a .331 hitting percentage and 0.82 blocks per set. Rackliffe helped the Rams to a share of the MASCAC regular season title and second seed in the MASCAC Tournament.

 

Westfield State freshman Lizzie Taylor is the 2015 MASCAC Rookie of the Year after helping the Owls to a 4-2 conference record and the third seed in the tournament. The Medfield, Mass. native finished the season first in the conference with 505 digs and 4.90 digs per set while also tallying the second most service aces in the conference at 65. Amanda Beckwith of MCLA is the 2015 MASCAC Champion's Choice Coach of the Year for leading the Trailblazers to a share of their first MASCAC regular season title and the top seed in the conference tournament.

 

Joining Rackliffe on the All-Conference First Team are Charleyne Panner of Bridgewater State, Danielle Girard of Framingham State, Allison Clark of MCLA, Emily Peay of Salem State, Kendyl Haney of Westfield State and Jennifer Cabral of Worcester State.

 

Earning a place on the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference with Taylor are Clara Goncalves and Hannah Maymon of Bridgewater State, Julia Wan of Framingham State, Rachel Mills and Angelica Perfido, Shannon Shea of Westfield State.

The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the nation's first Division III men's and women's playing conference, has a rich and storied tradition of competitive success while celebrating excellence in the classroom. MASCAC core member schools include Bridgewater State University, Fitchburg State University, Framingham State University, MCLA, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Salem State University, Westfield State University and Worcester State University. Two other institutions, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Plymouth State University, are affiliate members of the conference in the sports of football and men's ice hockey, while Western Connecticut State University joined the conference as an affiliate member in football beginning in 2013.
