Lancers Sweep Hawks in Non-Conference Match

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University Lancers swept the Becker College Hawks Thursday night at the Leicester Gymnasium with set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-18.

 
 

 The Lancers of Worcester State (8-10) were paced by sophomore outside hitter Emily Carens (Northborough, Mass.) with 11 kills, seven digs and a .320 attack percentage. Freshman middle blocker Sarah Powers (Hopkinton, Mass.) added four kills and four blocks.

 
 

Sophomore setter Alexandra Nolan (Melrose, Mass.) set up the offense with 20 set assists. On the defensive end for Worcester, libero Megan Leavens (W. Boylston, Mass.) notched 14 digs.

 
 

The Hawks of Becker (7-12) were led by sophomore middle blocker Kayla Dupree (North Bergen, N.J.) with four kills and four total blocks. Sophomore libero Brittney Bullis (Stafford, Va.) led the defense with 16 digs while senior middle blocker Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.) added four kills.

 
 

The Lancers marked a .195 attack percentage on the evening, while the Hawks were held to just .051. The Lancers' offense was the strongest in the first two sets at the team generated .400 and .300 attack percentages, respectively.

 
 

Worcester State will be back in action on Saturday at the Regis College Tri-Match.
