Chase Announces 2019 Women's Volleyball Schedule

2019 Worcester State University Women's Volleyball Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester State University head women's volleyball coach Bernie Chase announced his team's 2019 schedule on Wednesday morning.

The schedule features 27 regular season matches, with 12 played at home at John P. Brissette Court.

Worcester State opens its season on Saturday, August 31 with a tri-match down the road at WPI. The Lancers will face both the Engineers and Endicott College in their season-opening doubleheader. Three days later, the Lancers will play their first home match of 2019 when they host Rhode Island College.

The two-time reigning Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference champion Lancers open up league play on Tuesday, September 17, beginning their title defense with a home match against Salem State University. It is the first of seven MASCAC matches for Worcester State in 2019.

The Lancers will host their annual "Orange Out" on Saturday, September 21, as Western New England University and Wheaton College come to Brissette Court for a non-conference tri-match. The matches will promote leukemia and lymphoma awareness, and are dedicated to Chase's mother, who passed away of leukemia in 2016. Raffle tickets and concessions will be sold at the match to raise money for this important cause, and fans are encouraged to wear orange.

Senior Night is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29, when Worcester State hosts Anna Maria for its final regular season home match. A special pre-match ceremony will be held prior to the 7 p.m. first serve.

"The volleyball team is excited for the 2019 season and is looking forward to defending the MASCAC Championship," said Chase. "We wish our five seniors well and look forward to a new season."
