Women's Volleyball Named, for Fifth Year in a Row, USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award Recipient

Lexington, KY- The Worcester State University Women's Volleyball program has been named, for fifth consecutive year in a row, a recipient of the United States Marine Corps and American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season.

The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.

"Academic achievement does not happen by accident," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "I'm so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority."

Worcester State is one of 1,213 Collegiate and High school Programs, and one of 212 in Division III, honored with the award. "The team gets it done on and off the court" says Head Coach Bernie Chase, whose teams continue year after to year to compete on the court and in the classroom. Along with this 5th consecutive recognition for the Lancers squad, Coach Chase also placed 12 student-athletes on the MASCAC Fall/Winter All-Academic Team this past season.
