Worcester State Women's Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

Worcester, MA- Head Coach Bernie Chase, starting his 18th year at the helm, has announced the squads 2022 matches. The team is again looking to find themselves, not only in the MASCAC Tournament, something they have never failed to accomplish with Coach Chase in charge since 2008, but bound for the NCAA tournament with a the MASCAC Tournament Championship win in hand. Last season the Volleyball team ended as regular season MASCAC champions, before falling to Framingham State in the Championship game. This season’s squad will be led by Sophomore Angela Colonis, a MASCAC First Team selection last season, and an experienced group of returners and incomers alike.

“I'm looking forward to another outstanding season.  We have a good group of returning players and a solid group of incoming freshmen” says Chase. “These players are hard working on and off the court and I'm excited to get the season started.”

The Women’s Volleyball team begins their season on the road with their opening weekend seeing them matchup in a Friday/Saturday showdown at Brandeis University, matching up against Brandeis and Colby-Sawyer, before taking the court on Tuesday, September 6th, at Regis College. The Lancer’s open up their home schedule on John P. Brissette court on September 8th in a Thursday night Worcester battle when they go up against WPI. The team remains at home over the weekend hosting a tri-match that will see them play matches against Trinity and UNE before heading on the road to start MASCAC play versus Westfield State. September 17th will see the Volleyball team hosting its second tri-match of the season when they face off, for the first of two appearances on their schedule, with Framingham State and additionally with St. Joe’s. The remainder of September sees the team travelling to Keene and Fitchburg State while hosting Western New England and Bridgewater State.

Similar to the start of their September schedule, the Lancers squad will start the month with six games on the road traveling to Wentworth for a tri-match, UMass Dartmouth, Clark, Smith and MCLA before returning on October 12th and 14th to host Anna Maria and Mass Maritime. After this brief home stand, the team’s final four games see them twice more on the road before wrapping up with the two final games at Worcester State. The teams travel will see them crossing the state, facing off first versus Salem State before traveling to Mt. Holyoke. When the squad returns home, they will initially be hosting Rhode Island College prior to closing out the MASCAC conference in their second matchup with Framingham State, which not only will be the team’s Senior day, but an additional rematch of the MASCAC Championship game from 2021.
