Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Lancers (9-13, 3-1 MASCAC) traveled south to play the Rhode Island Anchorwomen (8-11, 2-4 LEC) in a non-conference matchup.

Worcester State took the first two games tonight as both were decided by three points. The Lancers eventually dropped the third match but by only two points in the third game. This matchup featured a tense back and forth as each team wanted to secure victory and pick up wins as the regular season turned into the postseason.
First-year outside hitter Beatrice Gamboa-Estrella (Simi Valley, CA) led all players with 16 kills, five more than anyone else. She also was the leader in points on the night with 17.
Libero graduate student Camryn Burgio (Quincy, Mass.) continued her masterful dig performance as she led all players with 35. Burgio remains the MASCAC leader in digs this season.
Junior setter Angela Colonis (Waterford, Conn.) finished her night with a game-high 22 assists. Teammate senior Maeve Cadogan led both teams in blocks (2.5).
With the victory, the Lancers improved to (10-13, 3-1 MASCAC) with Rhode Island College falling to (8-12, 2-4 LEC).
Worcester State will continue their extended road trip as they head to Cape Cod to face the Mass. Maritime Buccaneers in a crucial MASCAC matchup on Saturday, October 21.
