How it Happened:
UMass-Dartmouth started off with a 25-17 win in the first set over the Lancers after a quick start that saw them jump ahead 7-3 to get the night's match started . In the second set the Lancers came out swinging with a remarkable run putting up 6 straight points to start the set which would give them the edge they needed through the set to claim the victory at a 1-1 tie. The third and fourth sets went to UMD which both consisted of large runs to give them the breathing room and edge they needed to just stay out of reach of Worcester. The Corsairs had started the third set off with their own 6 point run and finished the set 25-12. In the fourth set the Lancers started with momentum putting up 4 straight points and aimed to push this match to five, but could not carry through to the end of the set as a late run by the Corsairs would give them the set and the victory.
Junior Cassidy D'Esposito (Medford, NY) would lead the Lancers with seven kills on the night while first year Katherine Crateau (North Andover, MA) would end the night with a team leading 22 digs as her presence was felt all across the court. Junior Kate Stedronsky (Sea Girt, NJ) would finish the night with five total blocks.
