Worcester, MA- After a brief break in action the Worcester State Volleyball team (5-13, 1-0) returns to action in a local road trip to square up with Clark University tonight. The Lancers are not only on a quest to win number six on the season but senior Angela Colonis (Waterford, CT) is on the hunt for her career 1000th dig. With the start of tonight's match Colonis was just nine digs away from breaking the career mark.

How it Happened:
The Lancers looked to find their winning ways but quickly was fighting for ground in the first set and fell behind 13-1 as Clark took the early momentum. Despite a three point set from Junior Middle Blocker Cassidy D'Esposito (Medford, NY) Clark took care of Worcester convincingly 25-11 and a 1-0 set lead.
The Lancers trying to bounce back after a bad first set would go toe to toe with the Cougars as Worcester kept it close early on down 9-8 trying to snag the lead and a win. The Lancers would let a small run against them but Worcester fought back to keep it close and close the gap 17-14. The Blue and Gold's defense ran out of gas as the cougars went on a six point run to win the second set 25-15 and take a 2-0 set lead.
The Lancers, who were trying to stay alive, started slow like in the third set down 9-3 as the Cougars got the early momentum towards a win and a sweep. Worcester State got down but not out as they made one last run being down by seven would not be enough as Clark pulled away with the 25-15 win and 3-0 set sweep. Colonis would score seven points but only snag three digs being 6 short of 1000.
What's Next:
The Blue and Gold (5-14, 1-0) will take no break before they are back in action as they travel to Fitchburg State for a 6pm return to conference action as they aim to remain undefeated in conference play.
