Sabu Varghese joins the Worcester State University volleyball program in August 2015 as an assistant coach.

Varghese comes to Worcester State University with 25-plus years of playing experience in both India and the United States. In addition to his play, Varghese has had 11 years of experience as a coach.

Varghese’s career started in 1988 when he played for the St. George College men’s volleyball team in India. Following his intercollegiate beginnings, he played for the Kerla State club team (India) from 1990-1994, Poonjar Bank club team (India) from 1995-2007 where he was the captain of the team, Wootown Volleyball Club (USA), and Yankee Volleyball Club (USA) from 2013-2015.

At the time Varghese was playing for the Poonjar Bank club team, he also was the head men’s volleyball coach at his Alma Mater, St. George College (India). He then landed the position as a coach for the Poonjar Bank club team in 2007.
