Donohue Paces Women's Cross Country at MASCAC Championships

Westfield, MA --- First-year Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) was the top freshman finisher at the MASCAC Championships as she propelled the women's cross country team to place fourth overall. Donohue finished fourth and ran the 5k course with a season-best time of 19:59 to earn All-MASCAC honors.

Freshman Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) took 13th as she posted a time of 20:55 while sophomore Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) notched 21st (21:25). Second-year Molly Gates (Worcester, MA/Doherty) recorded 31st while first-year teamates Nicole Boudreau (S. Windsor, CT) and Kristina Richard (Peabody, MA) finished nine seconds apart in 43rd (23:06) and 47th (23:15), respectively.

Senior Adrienne Fisher (Wilmington, MA) was the seventh finisher for WSC as she placed 52nd with a time of 23:43.

Westfield State claimed thier 13th MASCAC Championship with 30 points while Bridgwater State registered second (44) and Salem State (94) edged out Worcester State (97) for third place. Fitchburg State (118), Mass Maritime (171) and MCLA (194) rounded out the rest of the finishers.

The Lancers look to improve their times from this week as they will compete next Saturday at the New England Alliance Championships hosted by Keene State.
