Women's Cross Country Places Sixth At New England Alliance Championships

Paxton, MA --- First-year Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) highlighted a strong performance for the women's cross country team as they finished in sixth at the New England Alliance Championships at Moore State Park. Cartwright placed 27th in a race that featured 137 competitors as she registered a time of 21:01.

Freshman Ali Barrett (Hingham, MA) secured 30th (21:06) as sophomore teammates Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) and Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) were two seconds apart in 36th (21:20) and 37th (21:22), respectively.

Junior Maura Withington (W. Palm Beach, FL) added 39th (21:29) while rookie Christine Shaffer (Atkinson, NH) recorded 60th (22:22). Sophomore Kristina Richard (Peabody, MA) rounded out the top seven as she clocked 69th (22:39).

Keene State captured the crown with 19 points followed by Southern Maine and Westfield State as the Lancers were had the third highest MASCAC school finish with a total of 158.

The Blue and Gold will take the week off to prepare for the NCAA New England Regionals hosted by Williams at Mount Greylock in Williamstown, MA.
