Women's Cross Country Takes Second At Worcester City Meet

 

Paxton, MA --- Senior teammates Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) and Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) both had top 10 finishes as they helped pace the Worcester State women's cross country team to second place at Saturday morning's Worcester City Meet at Moore State Park's 5k course.

WPI won their fifth straight crown and eighth overall title with 15 points followed by the Lancers cumulative sum of 58 points. Assumption took third (83 points) followed by Clark (104) and Fitchburg State (107).

Donohue placed seventh with a time of 20:41 while Grueter, sophomore Chelsey Peso (Uxbridge, MA) and junior Ali Barrett (Hingham, MA) all finished 10th (21:18), 11th (21:25) and 12th (21:31), respectively.

Third-year Jenna Pickard (Peabody, MA) placed 18th overall (21:43) and senior Natalie Marchi (Northbridge, MA) crossed the line in 23rd (22:12).

Sophomore Courtney Godfrey (Danvers, MA) rounded out the runners for the Blue and Gold with 41st (23:42).

The Lancers will run again next week at the Tri-States Invitational hosted by CCRI.
