Peso Paces Women's Cross Country At Smith Invitational
 

Northampton, MA --- Sophomore Chelsey Peso (Uxbridge, MA) finished 14th with a time of 20:21.16 to help lead the Worcester State women's cross country team place tenth overall out of 19 teams this morning at the Smith Invitational.

Amherst won the race with 36 team points to capture the team crown in a competitive race that featured 204 individuals. The Lancers scored 280 points as a team with all four runners inside the top 125. 

Senior Ali Barrett (Hingham, MA) scaled the 5k course in 73rd (21:55.30) followed by classmate Jenna Pickard (Peabody, MA) who added 91st (22:17.52).

Freshman Melanie Hunter (Maynard, MA) and classmate Katherine Becker (Haverhill, MA) were seconds apart with 122nd (23:19.79) and 133rd (23:32.41), respectively, in their first collegiate race while junior Maggie Ingraham (Danvers, MA) crossed the finish line in 141st (24:04.50).

Senior Amanda Holden (Lunenburg, MA) notched 154st to round out the top seven finishers for the Blue and Gold.

WSU takes the week off before heading to the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational on September 21.
