Women's Cross Country Ends Campaign At NCAA Regional Qualifier

 

Gorham, ME --- Junior Chelsey Peso (Uxbridge, MA) and senior Ali Barrett (Hingham, MA) both scored in the top 150 as they both helped propel the Worcester State women's cross country squad to 37th as a team at the NCAA Division III New England Regional qualifier this morning hosted by Southern Maine.

The Lancers netted 1,040 points for the third-best finish in the MASCAC and the fifth-highest place among schools in the New England Alliance.

Peso clocked 126th (24:01.97) on the 6k course while Barrett registered 142nd (24:19.52) for the third and fifth best scores, respectively, among individuals in the conference.

Senior Jenna Pickard (Peabody, MA) added 242nd (25:56.29) as junior Maggie Ingraham (Danvers, MA) (256th – 26:13.92) and freshman Katherine Becker (Haverhill, MA) (288th – 26:6.79) weren't too far behind.

Rookie Melanie Hunter (Maynard, MA) rounded out the team with 316th (27:59.83).

Today's meet ends the cross country season for the Blue and Gold. Barrett and Pickard were honored in a brief pre-meet ceremony for particpating in their final cross country contest as seniors.
