RECAP
Worcester State's Rogers sets her new personal record with a time of 19:20, as she completed the 5K run with a first place finish Saturday in Paxton. She also was the winner of last year's Worcester City Meet with a time of 19:38.  Just one spot behind her came teammate Julia Carrier (Oxford, Mass.) in second place with a time of 20:57. Clark University senior Kristen Glennie (Standish, Maine) came in just one second behind Carrier, leaving her with third place in the race. Justine Murdocca (Milford, Mass.), a senior from Worcester State was just a few seconds behind Glennie, setting her own personal
course record with a time of 21:04. Other notables for Worcester State include a 6th place finish by Kelsey Bedard (Leominster, Mass.) and a 10th place finish by Riley Shaughnessy (New Bedford, Mass.). Head coach Gary Jusseaume was thrilled with the results of the Worcester City Run, and was very proud at how the Lancers competed for their first ever Worcester City meet title.

COACHES CORNER
"The team effort in today was excellent," said Jusseaume. "We prepared well this past week leading up to this meet. It's cleat the freshmen weren't intimidated by this tough course as they upped their competitive attitudes and ran strong personal course records."

The coach also spoke very highly of his runners directly. "Mia (Rogers) ran a tentative initial mile, then went into race mode. She ran the final mile by herself setting a new personal meet record by 12 seconds."

"Freshman Julia Carrier raced to a second place finish today. She pressed the pace the entire race and finished with a long finishing kick. Julia turned the corner in training and racing and now competes as would a seasoned veteran," believed Jusseasume.

"Justine (Murdocca) cruised to a 35 second personal meet performance record. Her hard work and dedication underscore a strong desire for personal success," said Jusseasume.

"Kelsey (Bedard) ran her best race of the year today," mentioned Jusseaume. "Her final 200-meter sprint to the finish was perfectly executed and devastating."

UP NEXT
