Berg Leads Lancers UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Women's Cross-Country team was back in action this Saturday afternoon as they headed to UMass-Dartmouth to compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational Meet. In a field of over 340 and 40 teams, ranging from DI-DIII, the Lancers were set to hit the course.

Junior Leah Berg (Worcester, MA) would claim the top finish for Worcester, crossing in a time of 21:29.48 to lead the Lancer contingent at this afternoon's 5k race. Sophomore Bridget O'Malley (Leominster, MA) would come in just under a minute behind with a mark of 22:18.35 while first year Samantha Edwards (East Longmeadow, MA), in a time of 22:48.63, and junior Kelsey Gendreau (Seekonk, MA), in a time of 22:52.10 would grab the next two finishes for Worcester. Fellow first year Casandra Dirsa (Bolton, MA) would claim the fifth scoring spot for the Lancers with her time of 24:32.40, just edging out juniors Claudia Symonick (Auburn, MA) at a time of 24:52.57 and Jillian McMenemy (Westborough, MA) with a 25:21.90 for the spot.

Worcester State returns to action on October 12th as they head to James Earley Invitational as they begin the last stretch of prepping for the MASCAC Championships on November 2nd.
