Lancers Finish Strong in Return to Competition at James Earley Invitational

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Cross Country team returned to action today as they traveled to Westfield to compete in the James Earley Invitational. With a combined team score of 335. The Lancers finished in 12th in the meet, with junior Leah Berg (Worcester, MA) leading the squad.

 

Berg crossed in 43rd with a time of 20:27.96 to lead the pack of runners for the Lancers. Coming in two minutes behind was first year Samantha Edwards (East Longmeadow, MA), who finished in 88th with a time of 22:19.08, just about 30 seconds ahead of first year Cassandra Dirsa (Bolton, MA) who finished in 99th in a time of 22:42.10. Newcomer to the team, junior Aubrey Tunnera (Marlborough, MA) would come in fourth for the Lancers and 106th overall with a time of 23:02.56, just edging out junior Kelsey Gendreau (Seekonk, MA)who came in at 23:31.83 for 111th. Junior Jillian McMenemy (Westborough, MA) and Claudia Symonick (Auburn, MA) would wrap up the race for Worcester with times of 24:42.65 and 25:22.34 respectively.

 

Worcester will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Western New England to compete in the Western New England Invitational.
