  • 150 Student-Athletes Named to MASCAC Winter/Spring MASCAC All-Academic Team

    Westfield, MA — A total of 906 student-athletes have been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference with selection to the league’s 2023 Winter/Spring All-Academic Team that was released earlier today by Commissioner Angela Baumann.
  • Worcester State Lancers Fall in NCAA First Round to #15 Middlebury

    Worcester, MA- After 29 years the Worcester State Lancers make their return to the NCAA Tournament taking on hosts #15 Middlebury College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Lancers were looking to advance to make it on to the all central mass second round in Vermont as they pushed the Panthers to the limit Friday night.
  • Men's Basketball Claims 2023 MASCAC Championship

    Worcester, Mass. - Brissette Court was lit up Sunday afternoon as the Worcester State Lancers and the Westfield Owls clashed in the 2023 MASCAC Men’s Basketball Championship. Tournament MVP graduate student Erik Bjorn (Holden, MA) grabbed 24 rebounds to lead Worcester State to their first MASCAC Championship since 1994.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Athletics department is excited to announce the hosting of a double Championship Sunday. The one seeded Worcester State Men’s Basketball and Worcester State Women’s Ice Hockey teams will host their respective championships Sunday February 26.

    Worcester, MA- Worcester State was back in action on Friday night after a first round bye in the MASCAC playoffs. Fitchburg, the number five seed upset four seed Salem State to advance to the MASCAC Semifinal matchup. In the semifinals matchup of the Massachusetts Collegiate Athletic Conference, the #1 seed Worcester State Lancers tipped off against the #5 Fitchburg Falcons at 7:30 pm at John P. Brissette gym in Worcester, MA.

    Worcester, MA- 2023 has been all Lancers when it comes to Men’s Basketball. Today’s regular-season finale would prove no different, as Worcester State capped off their perfect MASCAC season with a road-win against the Framingham State University Rams.

    Worcester, MA- Since conference play began after winter break, no one has been able to slow down the Lancers Men’s Basketball team. Worcester continued to cruise this afternoon, easily extending their conference record to 10-0 when they hosted the Fitchburg State University Falcons.

    Worcester, MA- On Wednesday evening, the Worcester State Men’s Basketball team was back in action to take on Westfield State, hoping to extend its winning streak to nine games. The Lancers defeated the Owls by a score of 80-58.
  • Bjorn makes History as Lancers survive close one in Bridgewater
    February 04, 2023
    Worcester, Mass. - The Lancers made the trip southeast Saturday afternoon to Bridgewater for a MASCAC showdown with the Bears, with an opportunity to extend their undefeated streak in the conference. A close game in the final minutes eventually went Worcester’s way, behind 30 points from Aaron Nkrumah, to keep the Lancers perfect in the MASCAC.

    Worcester, Mass. - The Lancers were back home Saturday afternoon with a conference matchup against Salem State at Brissette Court, with an opportunity to further their undefeated MASCAC streak. Despite Salem’s efforts and aggressiveness to keep themselves in the game, Aaron Nkrumah’s 20 points helped secure the win for the Lancers.

    Worcester, Mass. - The Lancers returned home Thursday evening after two games on the road to host Framingham State at Brissette Court in conference action, looking to extend their MASCAC undefeated streak to six. A game filled with intensity and emotion on both ends went Worcester’s way as Aaron Nkrumah’s 16 points helped secure a dominant win over the Rams.

    Worcester, MA- Earlier this evening, the Lancers Men’s Basketball team faced off in their opening MASCAC play, taking on the Vikings of Salem State to kick off the second half of their season. Worcester State, fresh from the holiday break, came out to secure their first conference win of 2023 by a score of 85-58.

    Worcester, MA - The Lancers hosted Wentworth Institute of Technology Friday afternoon at Brissette Court for their final game prior to winter break, looking to extend their current win streak at home to three. Aaron Nkrumah’s team-best 17 points were not enough as the Lancers ended the year with a loss to the Leopards.

    Worcester, MA- On Saturday afternoon, the Worcester State Men’s Basketball team went back on the road to take on Emerson, hoping to capture their second straight road victory in December. The attempt fell just shy for the Lancer who narrowly missed capturing their second straight road victory this month as they were defeated by the Lions 80-72.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men’s Basketball team was on the road again after a two home game stand, with a matchup against the Lasell Lasers on Thursday night in Newton. Both teams were coming off of a previous loss. In an exciting back and forth battle, Worcester held them off in the final seconds to come away with a win.

    Worcester, MA- Coming off of Thanksgiving break, the Lancers Men's Basketball team hosted the Wesleyan University Cardinals earlier this evening. Worcester State started the season hot, going 5-2 and only falling to a pair of nationally-ranked opponents. The Cardinals came into tonight’s battle desperate for a win, having lost their previous four competitions.

    Worcester, MA- Coming off of back-to-back road wins, the Worcester State Men’s hoops team hosted the Golden Bears of Western New England University tonight at John P. Brissette court. Western New England would prove to be a tough test on Tuesday evening, with their only loss of the young season coming against a ranked program.

    Worcester, MA- On Thursday night, the Worcester State Men’s Basketball team went on the road to Rhode Island College (RIC), hoping to bounce back from their hard-fought loss against Williams on Tuesday Night. The Lancers captured a much-needed road victory when they defeated the Anchorman by a score of 70-63.
  • Lancers Battle Hard in Loss to Williams

    Worcester, MA- Worcester State Men’s Basketball hosted the sixth-ranked Williams College in tonight’s home opener at John P. Brissette Court. Although the Lancers were able to keep pace with Williams throughout the first half, the game got away from them in the second, with Williams leaving victorious by a score of 79-60. 
  • Lancers victorious in Wheaton Tip-Off Classic
    November 12, 2022
    Worcester, MA - The Lancers took on the Wheaton College Lyons Saturday evening in the championship of the Wheaton Tip-Off Classic, looking to build from their 111-94 triumph over Hunter last night. Worcester had a slight lead at the start of the second half when Wheaton came back to put the score at 44 apiece with just over ten to go in the game. It wouldn’t be until two minutes after when Senior Guard Zion Hendrix’s (Charlotte, NC) three point jump shot, with the assist coming from Junior Guard Brandon Goris (Bronx, NY), broke the tie to give Worcester the lead again. The Lancers would extend their lead to double digits heading into the final minutes.A steal and a layup by First-year Guard Chris Paul (Everett, MA) in the final seconds of the game sealed the victory over the Lyons. 
  • Lancers Start Big versus Hunter
    November 11, 2022
    Worcester, MA-The Worcester State Men’s Basketball started their second game of the season in decisive fashion on Friday night. Nearly halfway through the first half the Lancers had already developed a 25-point lead over Hunter in the first game of the Wheaton College Tip-Off Classic. Worcester State started their season early Tuesday morning when they took number 8 seeded WPI to the final buzzer in their season opener.
