Bruso Recieves Nod As Third-Team All-American

Hershey, PA --- Junior captain Bob Bruso (Auburn, MA) has been named a PING Division III Third-Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Bruso is the first Worcester State student-athlete to recieve the award WSC Hall of Famers Scott Fairbanks and Jim Bombard were honored in 1984.

Bruso and Salem State's Nick Antonelli (N. Andover, MA) were the only two golfers from New England tabbed to the 35 person team. Antonelli was also a third-team honoree.

Bruso was outstanding this past season for the Lancers. In the fall he carded no lower than eighth place in five tournaments he competed in this fall as he earned second at the season-opening Blazer Invitational at Elms and medalist honors at the Bison Invitational. Bruso capped off October with a solid performance at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships. After he fired a second place finish on the first day of competition, Bruso ended second day in 17th and fourth overall among Division III schools for All-New England honors.

In the spring, Bruso started off his spring slow finishing three strokes off the lead at the Mass Intercollegiates, six at the Hampton Inn Invitational, four at the Worcester State Invitational and one off at Johnson and Wales before he medaled in his last three events of the season. Bruso tied for medalist honors at the MASCAC Championships with Santora and then he earned top finishes at Rhode Island College and at the Blazer Spring Invitational.

As a sophomore, Bruso tied for 15th at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championships and was third among Division III schools to earn All-New England accolades.
