Chicopee, MA --- For the third consecutive tournament senior Bob Bruso (Auburn, MA) ended just one stroke off the lead as he finished in a two-way tie for second place as he carded a 73 (+1) at the par 72 Chicopee Country Club this afternoon.
The Lancers would finish in 5th place out of the 15 teams in attendence. WSU was just 19 strokes off the lead as the host Blazers took the team title. Elms sophomore Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, MA) was the medalist for the round with an even par 72 as Bruso was knotted with freshman Brian Sears (N. Grafton, MA) for runner-up honors.
Sophomore Chris Brunelle (Worcester, MA/Holy Name) and senior TJ Magnell (Leominster, MA) each tied for 18th with an 81 (+9) while junior Dan Duclos (Attleboro, MA) and senior Brian Gulino (Milford, MA) finished the round with scores of 89 (+17) in a tie for 47th.
Worcester State takes a break until next weekend when they head back to Western Massachusetts for the Westfield State Invitational at Tekoa Country Club.
