Men's Golf Finishes Seventh At GNAC Championships

Canton, MA --- Sophomore Patrick Sharron (Boylston, MA) shot a 76 (+6) on the final round to round out his total at 157 (+17) in a tie for 19th as he helped pace the Worcester State men's golf team at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championships held at the par 70 Ponkapoag Golf Course.

The Lancers finished with a team total of 635 (+75), which was just 31 strokes off vying for the top four teams. Due in large part to the second-round par that sophomore Michael Caron (Gorham, ME), St. Joseph's (Maine) edged out WSU for sixth with a 632.

Rhode Island College captured the conferences automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament in May with a 587.

One day after tying for 9th in the opening round with a 75 (+5), senior David Rixham (Northbridge, MA) settled for a 158 (+18) equaling 21st while junior Jackson Davis (Spencer, MA) was right behind, tying for 24th with a 159 (+19).

Sophomore Steven Ferraro (Leicester, MA) notched 30th place (+23) and freshman Eddie Peladeau (Douglas, MA) tied for 35th, shooting six strokes better with an 81 on the second day for a final score of 168 (+28).

The Lancers close out their fall season next weekend at the NEIGA Championships at Captains Golf Course in Brewster.
