Gastonguay Leads Lancers at MASCAC Men's Golf Championship

Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Men's Golf team took to The Meadow Peabody this weekend to compete in the MASCAC Championship hosted by Salem State. With a breath of talent on the team, the Lancers looked to make their mark in the MASCAC as they wrap up their second to last event of the fall season. The Lancers finished fourth in the tournament, with a combined score of 665 over the two day event.

Sophomore Jonny Gastonguay (Ashburnham, MA) led the course for the team, recording an 84 on the opening day before knocking a few off the score on day two, bringing home a 75 on the second day for a combined two-day total of 159. The final score would see Gastonguay not only claim the top finish for the Lancers but was also low enough for a 6th place finish and a selection to the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference at the conclusion of the tournament.

Finishing only four strokes behind and tied for 12th individually would have first year Zach Hurley (Feeding Hills, MA) and junior Jack Ryan (Wakefield, MA) coming in next for the Lancers. Hurley opened his tournament with an 83 before recording a day two score of 80 to sit at 163, while Ryan opened day one with an 82 before reducing his day two score but a stroke to 81 for his 163.

Senior Patrick Rennie (Bridgewater, MA) would close out the top 20 with a two-day combined score of 181 after recording 88 strokes on day one and 93 on the final day of activity. Just one on place behind Rennie was junior TJ Conrad (Rutland, MA) who recorded scores of 99 and 92 strokes for a total of 191 to wrap up the action for the Worcester State Lancers Championship match.
