Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Golf team headed to Southwick this weekend to compete in the MASCAC conference championship. Worcester would claim the fifth place finish after two long days and a pause due to darkness to complete the 36 hole competition. Senior Jack Ryan (Wakefield, MA) would lead the Lancer recording a strong second day performance to grab the top spot for Worcester.
Ryan would claim not only the fifth place finish but a first team All-Conference finish with this two round total of +13 seeing a three stroke reduction from day one to day two. Junior Jonny Gastonguay (Ashburnham, MA) would have a slower start on day two but still grab a 12th place finish at +16. Sophomore Jon Wasserman (Salem, MA) would claim the third spot finish for the Lancers, in 25th, finishing the two days at a +28. Sophomore Zach Hurley (Feeding Hills, MA) would grab the fourth spot for Worcester with a score of +30 just edging out senior Patrick Rennie (Bridgewater, MA) who came in with a strong day two of +8 to also claim a +30 on the two day course.
The Lancers would end in fifth with a two day score of +77 snagging +38 and +39 over the two days.
Worcester will be back in action on October 18th at the NEIGA tournament to close out their fall season.
