JOHNSON, Vt. – Worcester State University's junior forward, Bryan Brasil (Williamsburg, Mass.) netted his third career hat trick Wednesday afternoon as the Lancers defeated the Johnson State Badgers 3-2 in a double overtime thriller.

1st HALF
Brasil opened the scoring for Worcester State in the 16th minute on a free kick that skipped in off of Johnson goalie Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.). Johnson's Dominic Caforia (Waterbury, Vt.) answered six minutes later with a penalty kick goal to tie the game at 1-1. The Badgers took the lead in the 27th minute when Alexander Vetere (Craftsbury, Vt.) sent a cross from the right wing and connected with Caforia who buried the ball to take a 2-1 advantage.
2nd HALF
Brasil equalized the score at 2-2 on his second goal of the game in the 58th minute when he picked up a loose ball in front of the goal, and got past Lane.
OVERTIME
After a scoreless first overtime period, Brasil completed the hat trick after getting behind the Johnson defense and beating Lane to his left for the game-winner.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Worcester State's Henri Guilmette (Franklin, Mass.) earns his first win of the season in net, stopping 3-of-5 shots on goal. The Badgers' netminder, Lane suffered the loss in goal, marking five saves in a 102:30 minute performance.
- Worcester State held a 17-7 advantage in shots and a 7-2 margin in corner kicks.
- Last season, Worcester State shutout Johnson State by a score of 8-0.
