Buzzards Bay, MA --- Sophomore Terrence Gibson (Rockland, MA) has been honored as this week's MASCAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his standout performance this past weekend at the Wheaton Invitational.
For Gibson, this marks the second time he has garnered weekly conference laurels as he last earned a certificate on December 10.
Gibson collected top honors in the 60 meters (7.02), the long jump (6.56m/21-06.25) and he helped run an anchor leg of the school-record third-place performance in the 4x200 meter relay (1:31.93).
His relay team broke a six-year record, and in the process, stamped their ticket for the ECAC Division III Championships.
With his school-record breaking sprint of 6.96 in the 60 at the Brown Alden Invitational, Gibson is currently ranked top ranked sprinter in the 60 in Division III New England, tied for fourth in the NCAA Division III rankings and 14th in the Open New England standings.
His long jump at Brown (22-0.35/6.71m) is also third in Division III New England and 10th in the ECAC seedings.
The Lancers will compete next week at the MIT Invitational and select sprinters will run at the Boston University Terrier Invitational.
