Worcester State Slotted No. 6 in MASCAC Women’s Lacrosse Tournament

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester State University women's lacrosse team earned the No. 6 seed in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) tournament after concluding the regular season at 5-12 overall and 2-5 in the league.

 

The MASCAC women's lacrosse tournament will begin on Tuesday (May 2) with the quarterfinal round. The No. 3 seed Framingham State will host the No. 6 seed Worcester State at 7 p.m., while the No. 4 seed Fitchburg State will host the No. 5 seed Salem State.

 

The winner of the Fitchburg State/Salem State will face top seeded Bridgewater State at 6 p.m. on Thursday (May 4). In the other semifinal, the winner of Framingham State/Worcester State will play the No. 2 seed Westfield State at 7p.m.

 

The two semifinal winners will then meet at the highest reaming seed on Saturday (May 6) to determine the MASCAC Champion and the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

 

Leading the Lancers this season offensively are Angelina Sutherland (Tyngsboro, Mass.), Mackenzie Little (Marlboro, Mass.), Alexis Vecchiarelli (Agawam, Mass.), and Alaina Martin (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) Sutherland is first on the team with 62 points on 23 goals and 39 assists. She also gathered 43 ground balls, 59 draws and caused 22 turnovers. Little is first on the team with 44 goals and also holds a team-high draw controls. Vecchiarelli and Martin have totaled 52 and 46 points for the team, respectively.
