Rogato, Clifford Selected To NEWISA Division III Team

Nashua, NH --- Senior Kara Rogato (N. Andover, MA) and junior Danielle Clifford (Attleboro, MA) were each named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division III team in a vote by 35 head coaches from around New England.

The pair were instrumental in helping lead the Lancers to their fifth MASCAC Tournament Championship and to this year's NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament. Rogato, Clifford and MCLA's Jess Tietgens were the only members of the team to receive the nod from the conference.

Rogato caps off her senior season as a second-team NEWISA honoree. Rogato, a four-year starter as a center midfield, tallied one goal and one assist for three points this season. Rogato helped lead an offense that was third in assists (21) and tied for fourth in goals (32).

Clifford earns the honor on the third team with Teitgens. Clifford, a three-year starter at left forward, totaled three goals and five assists for 11 points, which is tied for second place on the squad. Her five assists are tied for fourth in the MASCAC.

Clifford helped the Blue and Gold earn the MASCAC Tournament title after she tallied a goal in their 2-1 semifinal win over Westfield State and the game-winner in a 1-0 triumph over Bridgewater State in the championship. For her efforts, she was named Tournament MVP.

The Lancers, under the direction of third-year head coach Kevin Cumberbatch, lost to Eastern Connecticut, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
