Women's Soccer Earns Triumph In Double-Overtime Against UMass Dartmouth, 1-0

North Dartmouth, MA --- Junior Courtney Pellon (Hopedale, MA) notched the game-clininching goal in the 102nd minute of the second overtime to help lead Worcester State to a 1-0 victory over UMass Dartmouth.

With the win the Lancers improved their record to 11-4-1 overall while the Corsairs slip to 7-9-2 with the setback. WSU remains ranked sixth in the latest NCAA New England regional rankings and ninth in this week's NSCAA regional poll.

With 8:36 to play in the second overtime, freshman Sarina Lathrop (Hopedale, MA) directed a shot into the box, then Pellon knocked the loose ball over the head of UMD junior goalkeeper Krista Chauvin (Seenonk, MA) and off the inside of the crossbar, giving the Lancers the 1-0 victory.

The Lancers outshot the Corsairs, 10-5, and they held a 5-4 edge in corners.

Chauvin made five saves for UMass Dartmouth, while senior goalie Angieszaka Sychtysz (Warren, MA) stopped three shots for Worcester State.

The Blue and Gold will play a must-win game on Saturday at Fitchburg State at 11 AM as there is a four-way tie for first in the conference standings. UMD heads to Eastern Connecticut for a 1 o'clock affair in their regular season finale.
