Bisbee and Kralian Qualify for Division III New England Regionals at Cardinal Invitational

Middletown, CT --- Sophomore hurler Christina Bisbee (N. Attleboro, MA) notched third with a throw of 40-01.25 in the weight throw to qualify for the New England Division III Regionals to help lead the Women’s Indoor Track and Field team this past Saturday at the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan University.

The non-scoring meet featured competition from around New England and New York representing Division II and III and a couple of local community colleges as seven WSC athletes placed in the top 10 in nine of 17 events.

Freshman Mara Kralian (Grafton, MA) also had an outstanding afternoon as she punched her ticket for the New England Regionals in both the 55 meter dash (7.76) and seventh in the long jump (15-10.25). She ended the day landing ninth in the 200 (28.53).

First-year Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) continued her stellar season as she placed second in the 55 (7.70) and third in the 200 before she ended the day finishing 12th in the long jump (15-01.25). Classmate Maura Withington (Walpole, MA) recorded third in the 600 (1:50.01) and fourth in the 3,000 (11:32.09).

Junior Kara Antrim (Rowley, MA) also helped pace the Lancers as she finished second in the 1,000 (3:16.81), just two seconds off the lead, and eighth in the mile (5:43.51). Freshman Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) took home 13th in the mile (5:53.48) while sophomore Rachael Sullivan (Ipswich, MA) chipped in with 10th in the 3,000 (12:28.48).

In the field, sophomore Becky Galipeau (Bellingham, MA) missed qualifying for the Division III regionals by ¾ of an inch after she placed second in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.25. Galipeau also registered 10th (15-05.50) in the long jump and 17th (29.36) in the 200.

In her first meet of the season second-year Jill Rollins (Leicester, MA) threw fifth in the weight throw (38-02.25) and 14th (30-02.75) in the shot put while Bisbee ended her afternoon placing 18th in the shot with a distance of 28-03.

Next week Worcester State will compete again next Saturday at Wheaton College.
