Gorham, ME --- Sophomore Andrea Ouellette (Salisbury, MA) took home titles in the triple jump (10.96m) and the 55 meter high hurdles (9.40) to help lead the Women’s Indoor Track and Field team to a second place finish at the MASCAC Championships while the team also finished in fourth in the New England Alliance standings.
Westfield State took home the Women’s MASCAC Championship with 234 team points while the Lancers finished right behind with 166.50 points while Bridgewater State (50) edged out Fitchburg State (49) for third and fourth, respectively. In the New England Alliance, WSC scored 101 points right behind Southern Maine (125), the Owls (112) and Rhode Island College (109).
Junior Kara Antrim (Rowley, MA) crossed the line in first in the 600 (1:46.14) for the third straight year while freshman Maura Withington (Walpole, MA) placed a top finish in the 800 (2:29.40). Sophomore Rebecca Galipeau (Bellingham, MA) and first-year Maura Kralian (Grafton, MA) each captured championships in the long jump (5.06m) and 200 (26.92), respectively.
Worcester State also won the 4 X 200 relay in a time of 1:50.20 to reset the school record set last week by Kralian and Galilean along freshman Sarah Rafferty (Attleboro, MA) and Kristina Lisacki (Grafton, MA) to qualify for the ECAC’s.
Kralian also finished her impressive afternoon placing second in
the long jump (5.01m), triple jump (10.56m), and the 55 (7.58).
Rafferty placed second in the 200 (27.17), third in the 55 (7.59)
and sixth in the long jump (4.73m) while Galipeau chalked up fourth
400 (1:05.15) in the fifth in the high jump (1.40m) and sixth in
the 55 (8.02).
Antrim landed second in the 1000 (3:17.80) while first-year
Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) placed third in both the
1000 (3:24.34) and the mile (6:02.63). Withington also notched
second in the 3000 (11:21.54) while freshman Rachel
Baker (Mystic, CT) tallied sixth in the 600 (1:58.52).
In the field second-year thrower Christina Bisbee
(North Attleboro, MA) tossed second in the weight throw (12.73m)
while classmate Jill Rollins (Leicester, MA) threw
sixth in the shot put (9.19m) and fourth in the weight throw
(12.06m).
In relay action the 4x800 team of Baker, Plant, sophomore
Rachael Sullivan (Ipswitch, MA) and junior
Adrienne Fisher (Wilmington, MA) placed second
with a time of 10:46.07.
Next week select members of the women’s indoor track team
will compete at the New England Division III Regionals at Bowdoin
on Saturday and Sunday.
