Cambridge, MA --- Freshman Maura Withington
(Walpole, MA) placed seventh in the 500 meter dash (1:26.27) and
the 3,000 (11:09.26) as the Worcester State Women’s Indoor
Track team competed at the Harvard Invitational. Junior
Kara Antrim (Rowley, MA) also notched 14th in the
800 (2:24.59) to qualify for the Division III Regionals.
Like last weeks meet at the Smith Invitational, the competition
was from all divisions, community colleges and individual
entrants.
Freshman Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) tallied 21st in
the mile while classmate Christine Corcoran (E.
Walpole, MA) placed 22nd in the 400 (1:04.79). First-year
Danielle Clifford (Attleboro, MA) finished 28th in
the 800.
Freshman Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA), sophomore
Becky Galipeau (Bellingham, MA) and Corcoran each
notched 22nd (27.53), 30th (28.49) and 35th (28.98) in the 200
meter dash.
In the field, Galipeau led the pack as she took sixth in the long
jump (5.04m) and missed qualifying for the ECAC’s by .05
meters. Second-year Christina Bisbee (N.
Attleboro, MA) also tossed sixth in the weight throw and 20th in
the shot put while classmate Andrea Ouellette
(Salisbury, MA) jumped seventh in the triple jump (10.65m), her
season best, and 13th (4.81m) in the long jump.
The Lancers will race again on 1/17 when they head to Medford, MA
for the Tufts Invitational after the Christmas break.
