Buzzards Bay, MA --- Freshman Leah Walczak (Whitinsvile, MA) has received the nod as this week's Women's MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Southern Maine Co-Ed Invitational this past weekend.
Walczak captured top honors in the 400 meter run (1:01.29) added second place in the high jump (1.54 meters) before she capped off the meet with an eighth place effort in the 200 (28.42). Walczak's height in the high jump her season best while her time in the 400 is her second best showing this year after she clocked 1:00.61 at the Harvard Open in December.
Sophomore Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) also named to the MASCAC Women's Field Honor Roll after she placed second in a pair of events. Kralian eclipsed the school record in the long jump for the fourth time this season with a leap of 5.47 meters and she was just .09 off the lead in the 55 meter dash. Kralian is currently ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying list for the long jump.
The Lancers finished fourth out of six teams at the Southern Maine Co-Ed Invitational as they scored 103 team points.
Worcester State hits the track again this weekend when they travel to Smith College on Saturday.
