Women's Indoor Track Ties for 14th at Division III New England Championships

Gorham, ME --- Junior Andrea Ouellette (Salisbury, MA) highlighted a strong performance at the Division III New England Championships as she had a leap of 11.22 meters for fourth place as she helped lead the women's indoor track team to tie for 14th place with Wesleyan.

Freshman Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) also had a pair of seventh place finishes in the 55 meter dash (7.56) and the 200 (26.45) for all Division III New England accolades.

The 4 x 200 relay team that included sophomore teammates Nikki Lemelin (Beverly, MA), Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA), Alicia Ryan (Townsend, MA) and Mercedes Arnold (Mira Loma, CA) eclipsed the school record in the event and placed fourth overall with a time of 1:48.51 as the squad earned All-Division honors.

Also grabbing All-New England honors for the Lancers was first-year Cathy Chude (Marlboro, MA) who tallied eighth in the five-event Pentathalon with 2628 points.

Ouellette finished off her day placing tenth in the long jump (5.02m) while she placed 12th in the semifinals of the 55 meter hurdles (9.13). Arnold followed up her outstanding performance from last week with ninth in the long jump and 12th in the triple jump (10.64m) while freshman Rose Mathieu (Somerville, MA) added 11th in the long jump (5.02m) and 17th in the 200 (27.57).

The 4x400 relay team of freshmen classmates Kayle McElroy (Rutland, MA), Natalie Marchi (Northbridge, MA), Steph Muse (Chelmsford, MA) and Leah Walczak (Whitinsville, MA) clocked 4:17.71, just .66 seconds away from the school record they set last weekend.

The 4x800 relay squad of sophomore's Meg Plant (Franklin, MA) and Maura Withington (West Palm Beach, FL) with first-year teamates Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) and Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) placed 15th and eclipsed the program mark in the event (10:16.06). The previous record was set at last season's Division III New England Championships with Withington and Plant on that team as well.

Muse finished 13th in the semifinals of the 55 meter hurdles (9.24) while Rafferty recorded 16th in the 200 (27.57).

Williams won the meet with 156 points followed by MIT (90), Tufts (73) and Springfield (66) while the Lancers finished with 15 points.

Select members of the women's indoor track and field team will compete next weekend at the All-New England Championships.
