Kralian Helps Lead Women's Indoor Track At Division III New England Championships

Cambridge, MA --- Junior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) scored all 13 of the Worcester State women's indoor track and field points as the Lancers placed 16th at the Division III New England Championships hosted by MIT. WSU also had the third-highest finish for a New England state school.

Kralian clocked second place in the 55 meter dash (7.37), sixth in the long jump (5.28 meters) and seventh in the 200 meters (26.40) to garner All-New England honors in each event.

Two school records were also broken. Sophomore Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) bested the schools 3,000 record for the third consecutive week (10:41.61) for 13th place while the 4x800 relay team of Donohue, junior Maura Withington (W. Palm Beach, FL), sophomore's Brittany Grueter (Foxboro, MA) and freshman Kelsey Cartwright (Bridgewater, MA) eclipsed the school mark with a time of 10:10.43 which came in 14th place.

Freshman Hannah Werneth (N. Yarmouth, ME) tossed 10th in the shot put (11.22m) as classmate Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA) also timed 11th in the 600 (1:41.75) while Alison Hickey (Easton, MA) added 14th in the 800 (2:30.68).

The 4x400 meter relay team of Hickey, Taylor, junior Natalie Marchi (Northbridge, MA) and first-year Kristen Wilson (Tewksbury, MA) sprinted to 10th place with a time of 4:15.33.

Next weekend select runners, jumpers and throwers will compete at the Open New England Championships at Boston University.
