Mens & Womens Indoor Track Highlights From Open New England Championships

Saturday's Release

Boston, MA --- Junior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) earned All-NEICAAA honors in two events to help lead Worcester State to a tie for 26th with four team points at the All-New England Championships this weekend. Kralian had a leap of sixth place in the long jump (5.44 meters/17-10.25 ft) on Friday afternoon before she timed eighth in the 60 meter dash to set a new school record in the event with a time of 7.94 on Saturday.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Alison Hickey (Easton, MA), Natalie Marchi (Northbridge, MA), Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA) and Kristen Wilson (Tewksbury, MA) also broke the school record as they clocked 20th (4:08.15) to qualify for next week's ECAC Championships to be held at the NYC Armory.

Freshman Hannah Werneth (N. Yarmouth, ME) also tossed 19th in the shot put (11.51 meters/37-09.25).

On the men's side the indoor team team did not have a team score, but the 4x400 meter relay team of freshmen Devlin Crawford (Randolph, MA), Kevin Maciel (Tewksbury, MA), Ramses Rafael (Lawrence, MA) and senior RJ Stahelski (S. Deerfield, MA) to eclipse the school record set two weeks ago at the MASCAC Championships.

Stahelski ran a split of 48.7 to help the Lancers claim 14th place with a time of 3:21.89. The NCAA time for provisionally qualifying is 3:19.0 on a banked track and 3:21.0 on a flat track.

The squad will attempt to hit the standard next week at the ECAC's at NYC Armory's banked track.

 


Friday's Release

Boston, MA --- Junior Mara Kralian (N. Grafton, MA) distinguished herself with two outstanding performances this afternoon to help lead the Women's Indoor Track and Field team to 18th place at the NEICAAA Championships at Boston University.

Kralian would place sixth in the long jump (5.44 meters) for All-New England honors as the top Division III finisher in the event while she eclipsed her own school mark in the 60 meter dash.

Kralian clocked 7.95 as she was one of 16 competitors to make the finals which will run tommorrow afternoon. Her record in the 60 was set two years ago at the Harvard Open as her time was the top DIII time in eighth place.

Sophomore Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) also paced the sprinters with 21st in the 60 (8.30) and 23rd in the 200 (26.14) while junior Sarah Rafferty (Uxbridge, MA) added 22nd in the 60 (8.30). 

Freshmen teammates Christy Deininger (N. Attleboro, MA) and Amanda Holden (Lunenburg, MA) also placed 26th (9.87) and 27th (9.88), respectively, in the 60 meter hurdles.

On the men's side freshman Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, MA) had a leap of 18th in the long jump while sophomore Julio Arzu (Lynn, MA) added 22nd in the 60 (7.23).

Tomorrow for the women, sophomore Erin Donohue (Saugus, MA) tries to break her school mark in the 3,000 meter run for the fourth consecutive week while the men's 4x400 meter relay attempts to eclipse their record and earn All-NEICAAA honors.
