Wise, Jasper Sweep Weekly MASCAC Women's Track & Field Awards

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Junior Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) and freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) have each been tabbed the MASCAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their performance at the Harvard Open this past weekend.

Wise, who was lauded as the conferences Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, shattered the school record with a top finish in the 200 meters (25.58) before she placed ninth in the 60 meters (7.95). She qualified herself for the Open New England meet in February.

With her time in the 200, Wise reset her own mark that she had set as a freshman at the Open New England's and it is currently the fourth-highest time in all three divisions of New England.

Jasper, who was tabbed as the Female Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, placed fifth in the shot put (11.72 meters/38-5.50) to help pace the throwers at the meet. Jasper also added 22nd place in the 60 meter hurdles (10.41) and 37th in the 200 (27.84) for the Lancers in a very deep field of competitors.

Jasper currently has the fourth-best time in Division III New England shot put standings as she is only 11.50 inches off of the school record. Jasper also stamped her ticket for the ECAC Division III Championships in the shot put.

The Blue and Gold will compete again next semester at the Tufts Snowflake Invitational on Saturday, January 14.
