Wise, Caldarone Named Co-MASCAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Senior Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Burncoat) and sophomore Amanda Caldarone (Danvers, MA) have both been selected as Co-MASCAC Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for their contributions this past weekend at the Alden Invitational.

Wise picked up where she left off from last season, blistering the track with a top time of 26.05 in the 200 meters to qualify for the Open New England Championships. She also had a fourth-place finish in the 60 (7.98), which was just 0.01 seconds away from the Open New England standard.

Last indoor season, Wise was the Division III New England, ECAC Division III and Open New England Champion in the 200 while she won the Division III New England 60 title and placed 12th at the NCAA Division III Championships in the event.

Caldarone took home the long jump title with a leap of 5.34 meters (17-7) to add her name to the list of ECAC Division III competitors.

The jump marked a new personal-best for Caldarone who placed eighth at the Division III New England Championships last season for All-New England honors in the long jump (5.18m/7-0).

Wise shared the track weekly honor with third-year Caitlin Ryan (Hanson, MA) while Caldarone and freshman Naloti Palma (Westboro, MA) both collected field laurels. Both student-athletes compete at Westfield State.

The Lancers will close out the fall semester next week at the Harvard Open.
