Wise, Women's Indoor Track Sprinters Shine At BU Terrier Classic

 

Briana Wise, Amanda Caldarone Named MASCAC Women's Track, Field Athletes of the Week

Boston, MA --- Senior Briana Wise (Worcester, MA/Doherty) placed 28th for the fastest 200 meter time of any Division III athlete in the event as she helped pace the women's indoor track classic at the Boston University Terrier Invitational on Friday evening.

The meet featured extremely competative heats where several top notch Division I, II and III schools as well as local track clubs tried to take advantage of BUs banked track and stellar indoor facility. 

Sophomore Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA) stamped her ticket for the ECACs in the 200 as the seventh-best Division III finisher with 77th place (26.77).

Senior Nicki Lemelin (Beverly, MA) added 89th in the 200 (27.18) and second-year Liz Bodensieck (Raynham, MA) was just off the DIII New England standard in 107th (27.52).

In 400 action, freshman Emily Riehl (Trumbull, CT) placed 52nd (1:00.69) for the fourth-best time by a Division III athlete while junior Megan Taylor (Danvers, MA) was right behind in 54th (1:00.83).

Second-year Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA) clocked a Division III New England qualifying time in 62nd (1:01.68) while classmate Kim West (Harvard, MA) followed with 64th (1:02.52).

The 4x400 relay of Taylor, West, Hodgerney and McMahon clocked 27th place with a time of 4:07.14 for the fourth-highest time by a Division III institution. The time should also be in the top 10 in the Division III New England standings by the end of the weekend.

Worcester State competes on Saturday afternoon at the MIT Invitational.
