Jasper Receives Nod As MASCAC Female Track Athlete Of The Week

 

Westfield, MA --- Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) has been tabbed MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week for her remarkable two-day performance for Worcester State at the Division III New England Indoor Championships.

This past Friday, Jasper tallied 3,236 points in the pentathlon en-route to second place in the event before she ran the third leg of the third-place 4x200 meter relay (1:46.35) on the very next day to earn All-Division III New England honors in two events.

Just 122 points off the school record and 208 points off the winner at the Division III New England Championships, Jasper put up the second best shot put (39-5/12.01 meters), 800 meter run (3:31.59) and 60 meter hurdles (9.19) to jump into 11th on the NCAA Division III leaderboard in the event.

The top 17 times, heights, distances and point totals are chosen for the NCAA Indoor Championships in two weeks.

Jasper will try to solidify her spot to make her first-ever appearance in the NCAAs this Friday as she is seeded seventh in a talented pool of student-athletes at the Open New England Championships hosted by Boston University.

This past spring she earned All-American accolades finshing eighth overall in the heptathlon with 4,714 points.
