New York City, NY --- Senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) finished the pentathlon with a school-record 3,391 points to win the event and help lead the Worcester State women's indoor track and field team on the opening day of the Division III Championships at the NYC Armory hosted by Rutgers-Newark.

With 11 team points, the Lancers equaled 30th place to tie with Mount Holyoke. Buffalo State took home the first prize with 61 total points followed by Ithaca (38) and Rochester (32).

In a field that included 12 competitors, Jasper won the 60 meter hurdles (9.19) and the shot put (39-0.50/11.90 meters) before she ran an indoor personal-best time in the 800 meters to solidify her spot at the top of the podium (2:27.80).

Her long jump was also fifth (16-1.25/4.91m) and her high jump equaled the seventh-highest leap of the day (4-10.50/1.49m) as her sum outpaced the next highest finisher, junior Christina Cristea (Lodi, NJ) of Ramapo by 175 points.

Jasper eclipsed a 19-year pentathlon record that had been held by former All-American Elke Aun and set at Wesleyan (3.358 points) and her total was just 10 points off the ECAC Indoor pentathlon standard set by Addison Carvajl of Bowdoin set during last year's competition (3,401 points).

As the programs fourth ECAC Division III Indoor champion and third individual title winner, Jasper moved into 14th on the NCAA Division III list as of today, with her converted sum (3,369 points), factoring in her 800 banked track split for the JDL Fast Track's flat track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The top 17 times, heights, distances and point totals will be chosen for next week's NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

With a season-high split of 1:45.73, the 4x200 meter relay of junior Dalena Le (Worcester, MA/Doherty), senior Alexandria McMahon (E. Longmeadow, MA), Jasper and senior Brittany Hodgerney (Leicester, MA) placed eighth.

It is the third All-ECAC prize for a Worcester State 4x200 women's relay in the last six years.

Other notable finishes for the Lancers included McMahon who placed 13th in the 60 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 9.33 and sophomore Hanna Carson (Gloucester, MA) was 28th in the shot put with a mark of 37-6 (11.43m).

On Saturday, the 4x400 relay of sophomore Aliya-Marie Melville (Worcester, MA/South), junior Eva Bunszell (Bridgewater, MA), Hodgerney and McMahon closed out their campaign with a time of 4:01.29 in 11th place,

Check in on Monday to see if Jasper made the field to participate in her first NCAA Division III Indoor Championship.
