WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's Asgerdur Jana Agustsdottir (Akureyri, Iceland) has been tabbed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's indoor track & field rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Monday (Feb. 26) afternoon.

This past weekend, Agustsdottir competed in both the high jump and 60 meter hurdles at the Boston University Last Chance Meet. She came in fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.60m (5' 3"), while she notched 11th place in the 60 meter hurdles (9.93) amongst DI, DII, and DIII competition.

Worcester State's head coach Andrea Ouellette explained, "Coming off of a great week at Division III's, we gave Jana a chance to focus on a few events this weekend, rather than overload her. We hoped to give her the best chance for great performances in the last few weeks leading to nationals."

Commenting on this week's performances, "She had a good showing in the high jump and we were able to see areas to fine tune, but overall we are very happy with how hard Jana is working and in the performances she is putting forth."

The women's indoor track & field team heads to Tufts this upcoming weekend for the Tufts Last Chance Meet.
