WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester State University's freshman Hannah LoChiatto (Harvard, Mass.) has been named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) women's track & field rookie of the week, as announced by the conference Monday (Dec. 11) afternoon.
This past weekend, LoChiatto tied for first place in the high jump with a top clearing of 1.60m (5' 3") at the Husky Invitational, qualifying for Division III New England's with the mark. She also competed in the 400 Meters and came in 7th with a time of 1:03.71.
"Hannah has been showing improvements daily when it comes to high jump," commented women's track & field head coach Andrea Ouellette.
"We knew this weekend would have a high opening height, but she attempted the big jumps fearlessly and with confidence," explained Ouellette. "By doing so she was able to clear 1.60m pretty easily for a personal record. She also had some great attempts at 1.65, so it will be exciting to see what she can accomplish this year."
The women's track & field team will break until 2018 when they open up the New Year at the Tufts Invitational #1 on Saturday, January 13.
