Women's Indoor Track Selected to Win MASCAC, Men Chosen Third

WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Worcester State University women's indoor track and field team has been selected atop the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, as the conference released its Preseason Coaches Poll on Tuesday. The men finished in third in their poll.

With many members of the MASCAC Champion cross country team crossing over to the track, the Lancer women grabbed all three possible first place votes to land the top spot in the poll, finishing with nine points. Westfield State and Bridgewater State finished in a tie for second, each with six points, with Westfield State grabbing the final first-place vote. Fitchburg State rounded out the poll with three points.

The men's poll was very tight, with Bridgewater State grabbing two first-place votes and eight points to nab the top spot. Westfield State was second with seven points and a first-place votes, and the Lancers third with six points and a first-place vote. Fitchburg State was fourth in the poll, with three points.

Both teams kick off their seasons on Saturday at the Seventh Annual UMass Boston Open at the Reggie Lewis Center.
