Willimantic, CT --- The women's volleyball team dropped two matches by identical 3-0 scores to host Eastern Connecticut and the University of New England today at the 31st Annual Crabtree Classic.
Eastern Connecticut 3, Worcester State 0 - Box Score
The Warriors (9-6) defeated the Lancers (7-11) in the first match of the day in three consecutive sets, 25-14, 25-13 and 25-18.
Senior teammates Kristen Koles (Billerica, MA) and Katey Figella (Feeding Hills, MA) combined for seven kills while junior Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) added five kills and six digs.
Sophomore Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) put up 17 digs as freshman Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) dished out 10 assists in the setback.
University of New England 3, Worcester State 0 - Box Score
The Nor'easters (6-10) handed the Blue and Gold (7-12) three straight sets, 25-14, 25-17 and 25-17 in the 6 o'clock match at center court.
Senior Joanne Grenier (Orange, MA) handed out nine assists while O'Brien finished with seven digs. Freshman Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) registered three kills as Figella notched a pair of service aces.
Worcester State will look to snap a five-game skid when they play Bridgewater State at 11 AM and Wheaton at 1 o'clock.
