Jasper Named MASCAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Sophomore Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) has been selected as this week's MASCAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts in leading the Worcester State in a 3-1 week.

The honor marks the second time that Jasper has earned weekly conference accolades in her career.

Jasper averaged 10 kills 6.8 digs and 1.3 services aces including 10 kills and 10 digs in a 3-2 conference opening victory against MCLA to go with 15 kills and nine digs in a 3-2 setback to UMass Dartmouth this past weekend.

She finished off her outstanding week with nine kills, six digs and four aces in a 3-0 win at Southern Maine on Saturday.

Through the third week of the regular season, Jasper is currently sixth in the MASCAC in total kills (76) and ninth in kills per set (2.17). She has helped the Blue and Gold to take over second in the league in total kills (354) while they are also second in attacking percentage (.163).

As a rookie last season, Jasper put up the sixth-highest single season kill total in program history, since statistics were first recorded in 2003 en route to earning a nod to the All-MASCAC second-team. Her total of 186 was the second most for a first-year student-athlete.

The Lancers (5-5, 1-0 MASCAC) will play four games in the next week, starting off with Bay Path this evening and Newbury on Thursday, with both contests starting at 7 PM. WSU heads to Salem State to take on the Vikings at 12 and Daniel Webster at 2 o'clock.
