Women's Volleyball Drops Pair To End Regular Season

Plymouth State 3, Worcester State 0

Providence, RI --- Sophomore Amanda Lewis (Poughkeepsie, NY) dished out 27 assists and finished with five digs and two kills to help lead Worcester State in a 3-0 setback against Plymouth State at Rhode Island College's Murray Center.

After the Panthers (15-17) survived a 32-30 marathon to the Lancers (12-13) in the first set, they ended the match with a pair of 25-17 and 25-18 victories.

Senior Becky Lebel (Millbury, MA) also propelled the effort with seven kills and  a nifty .333 hitting percentage, making just two errors in 15 attempts. In addition, second-year Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, MA) was solid with seven kills.

Junior Megan Brown (Dartmouth, MA) had a great all-around contest with six kills, six digs and a pair of service aces and classmate Emily Cox (N. Andover, MA) chipped in with six kills and seven digs.

Third-year Vicki O'Brien (Canton, MA) rounded out the WSU standouts with a team-high 10 digs in the loss.

 

Rhode Island College 3, Worcester 0

Jasper paced Worcester State in their regular-season finale with a squad-best nine kills, but the Lancers would fall to Rhode Island College, 3-0.

The Anchorwomen (13-15) defeated the Blue and Gold (12-14) in three consecutive sets by scores of 25-20, 25-14 and 25-23.

Lebel had another solid attacking percentage with six kills in 17 attempts for a .353 clip. She is on pace to finish with the second-highest kill percentage in school history with a stellar average of .302, which is currently third in the MASCAC.

Lewis handed out 23 assists as she also put up eight digs and Brown added nine digs and six kills. O'Brien pitched in on defense with 10 digs in the losing effort.

The fourth-seeded Lancers will host #5 Salem State on Thursday at 7 PM in the first-round of the MASCAC Championship Volleyball Tournament.
