  • Worcester State Football Announces 2024 Schedule
    May 23, 2024
    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Football program, headed up by fifth-year Head Coach Adam Peloquin, officially announced their 2024 Football schedule. The Lancers aim to improve upon their 1-9 record from last season with the help of a seasoned team of veterans. Offensively the Lancers will be guided by the fast-acting feet of senior Nico Holmes along with all five returning starting offensive linemen from last season to help support a strong ground game this season. On defense, Worcester will be helmed by senior fourth year captain John McMasters, who is set to continue as a middle linebacker come the start of the new season, alongside fellow captain, and senior Jayden Caron. Joining McMasters and Caron on defense are seniors Eben Ankomah Gyau and Jamison Metcalf who are primed for breakout season this year.
  • Women's Lacrosse Announces Fall Prospect Clinic

    A date for the 2024 Worcester State University Women's Lacrosse Fall Prospect Clinic has been officially announced. The annual clinic will be held on Sunday, September 22nd at 1p.m.
  • Bartlett Named to NFCA Division III All-Region Third Team

    The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 376 student-athletes from 167 schools who comprise the 2024 NFCA Division III All-Region teams.
  • Smith Named to MASCAC All-Conference First Team

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Baseball team’s senior Ben Smith (Bourne, MA) was selected to this years MASCAC First Team as a starting pitcher. The Worcester State Baseball team (11-28, 9-12) finished their season falling in the MASCAC Quarterfinals after defeating #3 seed Framingham State in the opening round of action.
  • Lanpher and Bartlett Lead Six Lancers on MASCAC All-Conference Teams

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball team came away with two major honors and six named to this years MASCAC All- Conference Teams. Leading this year’s awards was junior Emma Lanpher (Charlton, MA) and senior Emily Bartlett (Lowell, MA) who claimed Player and Pitcher of the Year in the conference.
  • Lancers Place Three in MASCAC All-Conference Team

    Worcester, MA- The Lancers placed three on the MASCAC Second Team All-Conference as voted on by the conference coaches. Graduate Student Shea Jarvis (Auburn, MA), Senior Sarah Melanson (Melrose, MA) and sophomore Mckayla Fisher (Peabody, MA).

  • Worcester State Athletics Inducts 33 Lancers into Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society

    WORCESTER, Mass. – A total of 33 Worcester State University student-athletes were inducted into the 2024 class of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society, the athletics department announced last Monday. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes student-athletes who are juniors or seniors in academic standing and maintain at least a 3.4 GPA. Inductees were honored at the 2023-24 Athletics Awards Ceremony on the campus of Worcester State University on May 6, 2024.

    Coming off the 50th anniversary of Division III College Athletics and Title IX, Worcester State University’s Women’s Athletics programs have made tremendous strides to level the playing field for treatment, recognition, and resources for female athletes. The drive and ability to win is infectious across Lancer women’s athletics with teams and individuals consistently winning championships and making NCAA tournament appearances, all while succeeding in the classroom. Thanks to trailblazers worldwide who fight for equal treatment and the persistent dedication of players and coaches, female athletes are being promoted and recognized for their accomplishments more than ever. Karen Tessmer, associate athletic director and women’s basketball head coach, says that it is important to keep fighting for the recognition of women in sports, as it is easy for them to be overshadowed by male athletes.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball team kept the MASCAC Honors streak going this week as they again were recognized for their strength of play this week. Senior Emily Bartlett (Lowell, MA) was picked for the 4th time as MASCAC Pitcher of the Week, while first year Peyton Maloney (West Boylston, MA) received her first MASCAC honor of the season, being named Rookie of the Week.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Athletics department is proud to partner with the NCAA and Division III to celebrate this years DIII Week. Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution to observe and celebrate the impact athletics and student-athletes have on campus and in the surrounding community. During the week, every Division III school and conference office is encouraged to conduct an outreach activity that falls into one of three categories: academic accomplishment, athletic experience, or leadership/community service/campus involvement. Division III Week is a strategic initiative that achieves its desired impact from a unity of effort. It harnesses everyone working toward the same goal at the same time to build a greater awareness and understanding of Division III athletics.

    Worcester, MA- The Worcester State Softball Lacrosse team would claim two MASCAC weekly honors this week as the Blue and Gold would take home both offensive and defensive player of the week honors. Sophomore Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY) would claim the offensive honors whiles senior Sarah Melanson (Wakefield, MA) would be selected for the defensive honors.
  • Baseball and Softball Games Scheduled for Thursday and Friday, March 28th and 29th, Rescheduled

    Worcester, MA- Due to the expected weather over the end of the week the Worcester State Softball and Baseball games scheduled for this Thursday and Friday have been rescheduled. Thursday’s single header game, initially scheduled for Thursday, March 28th, has been moved to Monday, April 1st, at 3pm. The baseball and softball double headers initially scheduled for Friday, March 29th, have been rescheduled to Saturday, March 29th, for 12 and 2pm at Worcester State.
