
Worcester, MA- After a record setting week by the Worcester State Baseball team, the Lancers again had two selected as MASCAC weekly honorees. For the second time this season graduate student Ben Smith (Bourne, MA) was selected as MASCAC Pitcher of the Week while first year Christopher Mondesir (Roslindale, MA) was named MASCAC Rookie of the Week.
Mondesir batted .611 (11-18) with a triple, five home runs, 15 RBI, 11 runs scored and a 1.556 slugging percentage in a 2-3 week for the Lancers. Set the school record for RBI in a game with 11 and home runs in a single game with four, including two grand slams in the win over Bridgewater State. Went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in the 11-5 win over Fitchburg State.
Smith tied the school single game strikeout record with 15, allowing one earned run and no walks to earn the win in the Lancers’ 20-1 win over Bridgewater State.
The Lancers are back in action on Friday when they head out to Salem State for a 3pm start in their second to last conference series.
