Hunter Selected MASCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Buzzards Bay, MA --- Junior Robert Hunter (St. Louis, MO) has been received the nod as this week's MASCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his tremendous effort in a pair of wins for Worcester State.

Hunter becomes the second Lancer to earn weekly conference honors, joining classmate Dane Jobst (Athol, MA) who has already received the distinction twice this season on December 3 and December 17

He averaged 21.5 points and nine boards which started off with 18 points and eight rebounds in a 71-68 victory over Fitchburg State before he finished off the week with a double-double effort of 25 points and 10 caroms to go with three blocks in a 98-92 triumph over Bridgewater State.

Hunter was also on fire from the floor this week shooting an eye-popping 67 percent (20-30) from the field.

Through 16 games this season, Hunter ranks in the top 10 in several categories in the MASCAC which include being second in the conference in field goal percentage (.532), third in average scoring (16.1 PPG), fourth in steals per game (2.4), eighth in average rebounding (7.3 RPG) and tenth in free throw percentage (.722).

The Blue and Gold are currently 9-7 overall and 3-2 in MASCAC action. After hosting Salem State tomorrow for an 8 PM affair at the Lancer Gymnasium, the Lancers then head to Framingham State for a 5:30 PM contest on Saturday evening.
