Lancers Drop Midweek Battle to Panthers

Lancers Drop Midweek Battle to Panthers

Worcester, MA- After a trip away on Monday, the Worcester State Men's Basketball team (3-9, 0-0) remained on the road this afternoon as they headed north to take on Plymouth State in a Little East/MASCAC showdown in their final bout before their conference slate of game are scheduled to begin. Worcester is still on the hunt for their first win in 2025, and aimed to grab the lead and momentum early in the afternoon action.

Final

Worcester State: 58

Plymouth State: 86

How it Happened:

Plymouth State would use their tight press to jump out to a quick lead to start the game grabbing an 11-4 lead but Worcester would quickly settle into their offense and work around the pressure to bring the gap down to just four. Throughout the first half, the Panthers would again extend the lead, but Worcester would keep on the fight, always close at their heels. By the close of the opening 20 minutes Worcester had settled the score down just 13 at 31-44. Senior Brandon Goris (Bronx, NY) and graduate student Sam Davies (Worcester, MA) would record nine points over the course of action.

Second half action saw more of the same from both squads as Plymouth looked to hold onto the lead while the Lancers worked to form inroads into a charge for control. While Plymouth was unable to stem the Lancer attack, Worcester was unable to eat into the Panther lead with any substantial gain. As the final minutes of the half clicked onto the clock the continued pressure of the Lancer's began to crack allowing Plymouth to give one final push with their lead to claim the 86-58 victory.

Davies in just his third game back in action, would record 16 points and four rebounds while junior Ayme Daguilh (West Boylston, MA) led the team with eight rebounds.
